THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER
July 2009
By:
Dan Ochsner, President, Valley Waterfowl
Here it is, July
already. It has taken more time than usual to get this newsletter out,
but we have some exciting information for everyone in the following
pages. We have 2 events happening soon, our Annual Hunter Safety Course
scheduled for July 28th and August 1st. Please
read Roger Gillingwater’s article. If you know of anyone who is in need
of their Hunter Safety Certificate, send them our way.
First Annual
Apprentice Hunter Appreciation Day
Bruce Bullard has an
outstanding day coming up August 29th for Youth, (boys and
girls) under age 16, adult women and disabled persons interested in
waterfowling. Take a look at the enclosed Flyer and send in your
application to be sure to be included in this action packed day. Fathers
and Mothers are welcome to accompany their children and will not be
included in the 100 maximum limit. This Apprentice Hunter day is the
result of a grant we received from The National Rife Association (NRA),
without which, we would not be able to fund this type of project.
Thank you Friends of NRA.
Cougar Wetland
has been secured for 2009 thru 2011
We do not have the
signed permit yet, but we are assured that we will be administering
hunting at Cougar Wetland for the next two waterfowl seasons. We will
have more information on Cougar in the next newsletter, and will have
the applications, etc., posted on our website as it gets closer to the
season.
March 2009
Sportsman’s Dinner
Our 5th
Annual Dinner was a great success. I feel that the social aspects of
the evening were outstanding. Our financial success was great,
considering the economy, and we have secured 4 blinds this season, all
in rice country. Our quest for a Delta or Grasslands blind continues,
but it is a slow process. Mark your calendar, next year’s dinner is
scheduled for March 13th, same time, same place. See you
there if not before.
